This course helps build language
and conceptual skills to prepare students to learn
to read. It comprises 35 hours of courseware and strands
that develop 36 essential reading skills. Student
exercises are continuously reviewed and individualised.
Supports emerging literacy with engaging interactivity.
Initial
Reading Approx. RA: 6
- 8
Initial Reading develops comprehension,
vocabulary and word analysis. Following on from the
Reading Readiness Course, students learn letter identification,
patterns, phonics and sight words. Joins content and
colourful animated graphics to help students develop
strong skills.
First
Adventures Bookshelf Approx.
RA: 5 - 7+
This course supports reading, writing
and speaking development in young learners. It consists
of 16 children's books filled with interactive opportunities
in a multi-media setting. Students can read and hear
unfamiliar words in sentences. They can click on unfamiliar
words to access glossary definitions or on a picture
to see and hear identifying labels. New post reading
comprehension activities can be immediately and automatically
tracked. This can be used as a shared book.

Reading
Adventures Primary Approx.
RA: 5 - 6+
A literature based reading and
language arts course for young learners. It uses multi-media,
text, graphics, audio, video and animation –
to engage, motivate and teach beginning readers. Grounded
in educational research, it provides instruction,
but also offers opportunities for personal responses
to the literature through speaking, writing and drawing
activities. Illustrated glossary, online lesson journal,
text to speech to provide audio feedback on what student
writes, story painter, integrated drawing and writing
tool that includes writing activities.
Readers
Workshop Approx.
RA: 7 - 13
With more than 12,000 activities,
this major course supplements the classroom reading
programme by promoting reading and critical thinking
skills in a multimedia environment. Two of the strands,
Passage Comprehension and Thematic Lessons develop
integrated and content area reading. Five additional
strands contain courseware that develop and apply
specific skills in a variety of reading contexts.
Reading
Adventures Approx. RA:
8 -11
Reading Adventures includes more
than 100 award winning multicultural titles. Online
writing activities are integrated before, during and
after reading. Students can use online writing tools
to organise their thoughts and improve writing skills.
Teachers can build lessons around themes or subjects
making it easy to integrate the courseware with other
classroom activities.
Reading
Investigations Approx.
RA: 11 -14
This course develops content-area
reading by guiding students through challenging literature
selections from over 100 books. Fiction and non-fiction
are used to help students build comprehension and
thinking skills, develop reading strategies and extend
their vocabularies. Strategy lessons show students
how to become more proficient readers through analysis
of content and theme. Writing activities are integrated
throughout the reading lessons.

Discover
English Approx. RA: 5
- 8
70 hours of courseware designed
to help students acquire necessary English language
skills so they can begin functioning successfully
within the school and the larger community and to
build early literacy skills. Develops English language
proficiency through a range of classic children’s
literature from poems, stories, chants and folk songs,
to multicultural folk tales, it is designed to teach
English and reading skills in a meaningful content.
Interdisciplinary topics such as health, plants, animals
and maths skills help students to make connections
in their learning. Extensive audio use in courseware
and glossary.
Spelling
Skills Approx. RA: 7
-14
With over 3200 words in this module
graded by year, it comprises three activities, quiz,
word study and learning games. Spelling skills uses
picture and word animations, contains audio and online
help and also a sophisticated error analysis system.
It’s purpose is to develop spelling skills by
combing practice, tutoring and learning games. It
helps students achieve spelling mastery.
Writer’s
Studio Y3 - 9
A process focussed writing programme
with instruction, activities, tools and resources.
It provides guidance at all stages of the writing
process – pre-write, draft, revise, proof-read
and publish with hundreds of writing and publishing
ideas and unique project planning tools. More than
100 writing assignments based on ideas, topics, starters,
videos and books. Detailed publishing ideas for sending,
producing or performing. Student checklists for draft
revise and proof-read.
Story Painter
Y1 - 6+
This is an age appropriate drawing
and writing tool. It motivates young learners to write
and illustrate their writing ( or vice-versa) by providing
intuitive icons and tools that little fingers can
easily use. Simple clicks, drags and drops fill the
paint area with appropriate backgrounds and delightful
animated characters. It is seamlessly integrated into
Reading Adventures Primary to help emerging writers
make the connections to reading. Text to speech in
children’s voices, sound effects, word-bank from
RAP, numerals and maths symbols to support maths.
